Empowering Educators with Emotional Intelligence
An Initiative by Disha – A Counseling Cell, under BMEMT
In an effort to strengthen the emotional resilience and professional effectiveness of its educators, Disha – A Counseling Cell, functioning under the aegis of Bowry Memorial Educational and Medical Trust (BMEMT), organized an insightful seminar on "Emotional Intelligence" for teachers across all branches of Innocent Hearts Group of Institutions.
The seminar was conducted by Ms. Bhavdeep Kohli, an internationally certified Image Consultant and Soft Skill Trainer, who brought a wealth of expertise and a dynamic approach to the session. With her engaging and interactive style, she emphasized the vital role emotional intelligence plays in a teacher’s life—not just in managing classrooms, but in nurturing emotionally healthy students.
🔹 Key Focus Areas of the Seminar:
-
Understanding Emotional Intelligence (EQ): Why it matters more than IQ in today's learning environments
-
The Three C’s – Contact, Connect, Collaborate: A framework for building meaningful teacher-student relationships
-
Self-awareness and Empathy: The foundation of responsive and responsible teaching
-
Classroom Strategies: How to model and teach emotional regulation to students
Teachers participated with enthusiasm, sharing their own classroom experiences and learning new ways to create emotionally supportive environments. The session helped them recognize the importance of empathy, active listening, and emotional self-regulation—essential traits for any 21st-century educator.
Ms. Kohli’s approach inspired educators to reflect on their emotional interactions and equipped them with tools to become not just instructors, but true mentors and guides.
This seminar marks another step forward in Disha’s mission to promote mental and emotional well-being in education, aligning with BMEMT’s commitment to holistic development and professional growth.
