International Girl Child Day

 

The NSS unit of Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar celebrated International Girl Child Day in collaboration with DISHA-An Initiative By Bowry Memorial Educational and Medical Trust (BMEMT), to advocate the notion that girls are no less than boys in all the spheres of life.

 A drama on the theme of ‘Solutions to Gender Inequality – ‘Digital Generation, Our Generation’ was enacted by NSS volunteers , throwing light on the strategies to be adopted to equip girls with qualitative education and make their future bright.

Under 'Disha- An Initiative' (run by Bowry Memorial Educational and Medical Trust), 'World Sight Day' was celebrated in all the five schools of Innocent Hearts (Green Model Town, Loharan, Noorpur Road, Cantt.- Jandiala Road and Kapurthala Road) to make the children aware about visual impairment and blindness and also to promote the importance of vision health. Director CSR , Dr. Palak Gupta Bowry gave important tips to children for eye care and advised them to keep the eyes healthy , add  balanced diet in their routine, reduce  screen time, get regular eye checkups done. Further, she enlightened the children about a remarkable 20- formula, as per which one should focus on something 20 feet away for 20 seconds every 20 minutes as it immensely  helps in relaxing the eyes while watching the screen and preventing damage caused by continuous screen viewing.

Eye & Dental Check-up Camp

  Under the aegis of Bowry Memorial Educational and Medical Trust (BMEMT)  an eye & Dental check up camp was conducted, which offered a valuable opportunity to monitor and protect the students' vision, focussing on the health and well-being of the children  .

Free Cataract Surgery Camp under “Vision Kamlesh”

  DISHA-An Initiative By Bowry Memorial Educational and Medical Trust (BMEMT), organized a Free Cataract Surgery Camp under the project “KAMLESH VISION” in collaboration with Innocent Hearts Eye Centre, in accordance with the directions of Dr. Rohan Bowry (MS Opthalmology, F.P.R.S. Phaco Refractive Surgeon, Medical Retina Specialist). It was held, at village Rampur Lallian which is one of the 40 villages adopted by the Trust wherein around 200 patients were examined by Dr Rohan & his team of experts. Medicines were distributed for FREE & the surgeries were performed keeping in view, all the necessary preventive measures. Dr. Palak Bowry (Director CSR, Innocent Hearts Group) ensured to facilitate the patients with the transport arrangements & committed to keep working for the welfare of the underprivileged sections of the society in the future as well
