Cervical Cancer Awareness Session on International Women’s Day







Prioritizing health and well-being, Innocent Hearts Group of Institutions, under  “Disha – an initiative run by Bowry Memorial Educational and Medical Trust, organized a Cervical Cancer Awareness Session on the occasion of International Women’s Day for female students and women staff members. The program was conducted in collaboration with Phulkari – Conquer Cancer Organization.The objective of the session was to create awareness among students and women about the importance of early detection and prevention of cervical cancer, and to empower them with the right knowledge regarding women’s health.
The event was organized by the institution’s Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) and Red Ribbon Club. On this occasion, Mrs. Anjali Dada, Head – Conquer Cancer Project, President and Founder of Soch Autism Society of Punjab; Dr. Amita Sharma, Technical Advisor, CC Team, Phulkari Women of Jalandhar; and Mrs. Shilpa Chawla, Subject Facilitator, CC Team, Phulkari, addressed the participants.
The distinguished experts shared valuable insights about the causes and symptoms of cervical cancer, the importance of vaccination and regular screening for early detection, and the role of a healthy lifestyle in prevention. They also highlighted the latest medical advancements and treatment options available for managing the disease. To creatively strengthen the awareness campaign, students presented a nukkad natak (street play) emphasizing the importance of women’s health and timely medical check-ups. In addition, a self-composed poem was presented, delivering a powerful message to the audience to remain aware and sensitive towards cervical cancer.
On this occasion, Dr. Palak Gupta Bowry ,CSR Director, Innocent Hearts, stated that such initiatives are extremely important for spreading awareness and promoting women’s health. She emphasized that the institution remains committed to building a healthy and aware society. She also added that the mission of Phulkari Conquer Cancer, which focuses on fighting cancer through education and support, aligns with the core values of the institution.The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Gagandeep Kaur Dhanju, Director Academics, IHGI. During the event, the distinguished guests were honored with eco-friendly souvenir presented by Ms. Sharmila Nakra, Deputy Director – Cultural Affairs.
