Round Table Discussion on "Air Pollution and Health" in collaboration with Lung Care Foundation

 Round table discussion saw an active participation from farmer representatives who shared their concerns and experiences. The government officials from Agriculture department have had a constructive dialogue with the farmer representatives.

Seminar on Cervical Cancer

Disha : an initiative, run and managed by Bowry Memorial Educational and Medical Trust organised  a seminar  at Innocent Hearts School, on cervical cancer for its girl  students and staff.  It was organized in  collaboration with Phulkari, Conquer Cancer Organization . The event aimed to educate and empower girls and women about the importance of early detection and prevention of cervical cancer.  Renowned experts shared valuable insights and guidelines on causes and symptoms of cervical cancer , importance of vaccination and screening ,healthy lifestyle choices for prevention, latest medical advancements and treatment options. Dr Palak Gupta Bowry, CSR Director, Innocent Hearts mentioned that "This initiative is crucial for spreading awareness and promoting women's health. We're committed to fostering a healthy and informed community."  

Seminar on Air Pollution & Climatic Change

Under DISHA, an initiative by Bowry Memorial Educational & Medical Trust (BMEMT), a seminar was hosted on 'The Adverse Effects of Air Pollution and Climate Change on Health', whereby Expert speaker Dr. Rajiv Khurana (Founder Trustee of  Lung Care Foundation) shared valuable insights on the urgent need for sustainable practices in order to ensure a clean & healthy environment.  

World Sight Day

Under 'Disha- An Initiative' (run by Bowry Memorial Educational and Medical Trust), 'World Sight Day' was celebrated in all the five schools of Innocent Hearts (Green Model Town, Loharan, Noorpur Road, Cantt.- Jandiala Road and Kapurthala Road) to make the children aware about visual impairment and blindness and also to promote the importance of vision health. Director CSR , Dr. Palak Gupta Bowry gave important tips to children for eye care and advised them to keep the eyes healthy , add  balanced diet in their routine, reduce  screen time, get regular eye checkups done. Further, she enlightened the children about a remarkable 20- formula, as per which one should focus on something 20 feet away for 20 seconds every 20 minutes as it immensely  helps in relaxing the eyes while watching the screen and preventing damage caused by continuous screen viewing.

Eco-Friendly Ganesha' -Environmental Conservation

  Under the aegis of Bowry Memorial Educational and Medical Trust, 'Disha - An Initiative' and Sustainable Development Goal-13 Climate Action, an online 'Create Eco-Friendly Ganesha' contest was organised. The competition aimed to sensitize children towards environmental protection. Participants used eco-friendly materials like clay, natural colors, newspaper, and recycled materials to create attractive Ganesha idols. The winners received a cash prize of ₹1100 & certificates respectively. Dr. Palak Gupta Bowry, Director CSR emphasized that such competitions not only encourage art and creativity but also instill environmental responsibility

'Yoga for Self and Society'

  Under the aegis of 'Disha-An Initiative' run by Bowry Memorial Educational and Medical Trust, a  yoga session was organized to celebrate the tenth International Yoga Day under the theme 'Yoga for Self and Society' which was conducted by Professor Muskan Gaba and Mrs. Puneet Sahajal who are certified yoga instructors. They emphasized that yoga is an art, a science of living a healthy life. It maintains balance in the body, brings strength and flexibility. They taught the proper technique of performing various asanas like Bhujang Asana, Veerbhadra Asana, Marakat Asana and Surya Namaskar. She demonstrated and made everyone do the pranayama 'Anulom-Vilom and Kapalbhati'. TThey also explained the benefits of each asana and pranayama thereby encouraging & inspiring everyone to stay fit. On the whole, it was a fruitful session in which it was concluded that yoga science is a spiritual discipline that helps in bringing harmony between mind and body.

World Environment Day

  World Environment Day was celebrated under Disha - an initiative being run, under the aegis of Bowry Memorial Educational and Medical Trust. Children participated with great enthusiasm in the online activities organized on World Environment Day. Various activities were organized according to different age groups of students. Students made food feeders for their feathered friends i.e. birds by properly using the items available at their home. Students also planted a 24 hour oxygen giving and medicinal plant in their home and promised to take care of the plant and observe its growth closely. Students further made paper bags by making the best use of the waste items during the Best Out of Waste activity with the thought of saving the environment.  Dr. Anup Bowry; Chairman of Innocent Hearts said that the trust is always ready for the upliftment of the society.  Through collaborative efforts we can make the environment clean. World Earth Day' under the theme 'A Vision: Green India, Clean India'

  Under 'Disha-an initiative' run by Bowry Memorial Educational and Medical Trust, giving the message of 'Green India, Clean India', many activities were organized on 'World Earth Day'. Through the 'Nurture with Nature' activity, the Eco Club volunteers gave valuable information to the children about making compost pits, separating dry and wet waste, collecting fallen leaves from trees and making beautiful hangings, etc. Children learned to plant trees that provide oxygen round the clock and medicinal benefits of plants like Tulsi, Aloe Vera, Cactus. Children were motivated to protect the environment and keep the earth clean & green, thereby conserving natural wealth.

Culmination of 'Shri Akhand Path Sahib

  Under  'Disha-an Initiative' run by Bowry Memorial Educational and Medical Trust, the management of  Innocent Hearts, held Shri Akhand Path Sahib at Gurdwara Nauvi Patshahi, Shri Guru Teg Bahadur Nagar. The path is done every year to thank the Supreme Father, Supreme Soul for the safety of the children. Dr. Anup Bowry thanked the bus drivers and conductors associated with the Innocent Hearts family for their services over the years.

Yoga for “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam”

  Under the aegis of "Disha- an Initiative" run by Bowry Memorial Educational & Medical Trust, on the occasion of International Yoga Day, a session on 'Fitness through Yoga' was organized with a view to promote amongst masses, that Yoga is a spiritual discipline , which helps in bringing harmony between mind and body.. The session was conducted by Ms. Sonia Aeron and Ms. Meena Gupta, certified yoga instructors from Ministry of AYUSH and Sri Sri School of Yoga.  They emphasized that yoga is an art & a science of living a healthy life.  This maintains balance in the body, brings strength and flexibility.  Proper techniques of performing various asanas like Bhujang Asana, Virbhadra Asana, Marakat Asana and Surya Namaskar were taught, thereby focusing on the breathing exercises/Pranayama

'Mera Shehar Mera Maan'

  A seminar on environmental protection under the project “Mera Shehar Mera Maan” was organized by 'Disha an Initiative' run by Bowry Memorial Educational and Medical Trust wherein Mrs. Saroj Kapoor from Municipal Corporation along with her team apprised the audience on   'Eco and Disaster Management'. Complete information as to wet waste, dry waste, and hazardous waste along with the utility of wet waste to make compost was shared with the public. The session was concluded beautifully with much emphasis on RRR (Reduce, Reuse & Recycle)

Literary Club of Innocent Hearts made students aware through Street Play on 'World No Tobacco Day'

Under Disha - an Initiative, run by Bowry Memorial Educatiinal and Medical Trust, five schools of Innocent Hearts (Green Model Town, Loharan, Nurpur Road, Cantt.- Jandiala Road and Kapurthala Road) came forward to spread the message - 'Tobacco: A Slow Poison' , on the occasion of NO TOBACCO DAY.   The purpose of observing this day was to make the people aware of the deadly diseases caused by tobacco-consumption and the dangers associated with its use. The students made remarkable efforts through posters & slogan writing, in order to spread awareness on the negative effects of consuming tobacco on mental as well as physical health.
